IKD Eastern District

On Monday, August 18, 2014, Industrial Kiln & Dryer Group (IKD) hosted the grand opening of their Eastern District Office located off Metal Lane in Louisville, Ky. This office will serve customers in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan.

The event was held in conjunction with the opening reception for IKD University, a week-long training class on the principles of rotary processing equipment maintenance presented by IKD experts and attended by over 30 IKD customers from around the country. Live music, barbeque and corn-hole were among the activities at the 30,000-square-foot facility. Customers from over a dozen states representing half a dozen rotary equipment industries witnessed the ribbon-cutting. Those in attendance also had a chance to tour the facility and witness first-hand the capabilities and intimate feel of this local office.

Randall Young, IKD president, stated that the new Eastern District Office ensures the company has a local presence with its customer base and lives up to the Customer Service directives of “fast and knowledgeable response time” without giving up the strength of a larger company that is resourced to respond coast-to-coast. This allows for the ability to be as small and intimate as needed on a daily basis and as large as needed for those big projects. The Eastern District includes: Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan.

“People buy from people they know and trust,” Young said. “This district location allows us to give our local customers, or customers in the Eastern region, the personal attention they want and deserve. We want to intimately know the equipment and plant management in this region so that we become more than just a service provider but a trusted partner no matter how big or small the issue.”

The company’s headquarters are already in Louisville, Kentucky, but Young supports the decision to open a new facility in Louisville to serve the Eastern District. “We did not feel a corporate office has the same daily ‘local’ focus that is required,” Young said. “The district office will dig into the daily visits, needs and requirements of our customers in a concentrated area without the distractions that are part of the daily life of a large corporate business. Also, the great facility at Metal Lane will give us extraordinary capabilities.”

The Eastern District Office shares a building with IKD’s sister company, Louisville Dryer Company (LDC) and it includes a shop facility and an office space. The shop has two bridge cranes each with two 11-ton hoists and a hook height of 25 feet. The office is also equipped with a large crew, of 20+ who all live locally, along with district management and technical personnel. The district facility owns a 53’ tool trailer/on-site office and grinding and alignment equipment. “This makes us more than capable to handle any situation at a rotary processing equipment site, quickly and efficiently,” Young said.
