Shell Knockers (Shell Hammers)
Shell knockers are a common item supplied by Industrial Kiln & Dryer to OEM's and as retrofit / replacement items.
A shell knocker is a device that makes use of gravity and offers increased dryer efficiency by physically "knocking" on the dryer shell to free material that may be stuck to the inside of the dryer shell. This material, if allowed to build up, will eventually cake inside the dryer and hinder performance of the dryer's flighting system.
A shell knocker consists of a section of schedule 40 pipe that is welded to a ring that attaches to the dryer's shell. A massive spherical ball resembling a cannon ball is housed within the pipe, a weldment at the open end of the pipe seals the assembly and prevents the ball from escaping.
Economically priced, a set of shell knockers are an excellent investment in your dryer's longevity and performance.
